Kotéba is a rhythm from the drumming style known as Bonkolo. Bonkolo drumming originates with the Bamana people in Mali. This style of drumming uses a very thin stick or twig in one hand and the other hand is just open. We use very thin doweling and our Djembés.

Typically there is a drum called the “Chun” which is very big in diameter and played with the hands. We don’t one of these yet so we use the dundun with a mallet or stick.

Here is an MP3 recording of Kotéba by Kunundrum.
